Daily Salah, Education & Services

Our efforts will hopefully be a means of safeguarding our faith, that of our families and future generations to come.

Respected Brothers and Sisters,

Jalalabad Masjid is based in the heart of Birmingham. We are located in Selly Oak, in a busy, multicultural part of this great city. We have the world famous University of Birmingham nearby, with also brilliant access to local transport. We currently welcome hundreds of worshippers to our place of worship every week, and these people include students from all around the world who are studying at the nearby university, and also families from the local surrounding areas.

Our local Masjid originally started in a local corner house on Dartmouth Road, in the early-mid 1980’s. This was created to offer a place of worship, and also a learning Centre for the local community, as there was nothing like this available in the local area.

After seeing the need for a bigger premises and popularity of a local Masjid and learning Centre, a group of local residents and businessmen got together to purchase a Church which was up at the top of this road, Dartmouth Road. The purchase and drive for this bold new project was led by the Late Haji Mohammed Alaur Rahman, and he got together a team of friends and other local worshippers to build this Masjid, which has now gone on from strength to strength up to this present day.
The Jalalabad Masjid charity was set up in February 1987.  The Masjid has constantly improved over the years, but recently underwent its biggest transformation and extension, which cost in the region of £300,000. The local community, Trustees, as well as support from around the world, got together, and shared the financial costs which was required for this huge project. We are thrilled to say that the Masjid is currently self-sufficient, and by the will and grace of Allah, it is improving on a daily basis.

The Masjid is now run by its Trustee members, who are led by the Chairman, and have regular meetings, with regards to the day to day needs to run such an organisation.

Jazak Allah Kharian
Waleykum Salaam
